I am working on consistency. Sometimes I don’t show up the same way as last week. Sometime the visuals change. Or the theme. Or the name. But, I like the idea— if you don’t quit, you can’t lose.
Eminem
Let them Believe
Eminem has a bad rep at first glance. His lyrics edge on cancel-worthy all the while being lyrically brilliant. Something I find is interesting is the development of perception about Marshall Mathers persona over the years— and how wrong everyone got it.
I was about 10 years old when Eminem hit the air waves. I was not allowed to listen to his music… Which is fair, his lyrics are not what I would consider appropriate for kids. Fast forward 20 years and boom I get the Eminem phase I missed when he was a hit and my Spotify wrapped tells me I and a top 10% listener of the real slim shady.
My perception of other peoples view on Eminem was that he is/was a bad person. Because of bad or crude lyrics. But something was said recently… that people confuse his lyrics with his truth. In other words, people killed the messenger.
As more and more comes out, that he isn’t a homophobe and has a strong relationship with Elton John. That the lyrics are just words and stories. That he was telling a version of life many people really do live.
I think this is an example of someone who was dealt a hand they needed to play, and played it very well. The lyrics were storytelling of life for how he was raise and went through, not an endorsement. He is a master of lyrical story telling and used shock to get attention. And get attention he did.
Luckily, the reason the lyrics came so naturally, he was raised to have thick skin. So as the world hated him for the words he was spitting, he let them think what they wanted, and went on about his business. He let time and the people around him share the truth. of his loyalty, his character.
And is there any better way to build a brand then to let it speak through the words of others? Let the haters hate. Sometimes what people hear and see, is not what is.
Garbage In Garbage Out
Changing consumption for improved health and wellness
What you consume you become. Your thoughts drive your behaviours. Who you surround yourself you become like.
You can brain wash yourself. You can read, watch, listen, surround yourself with anything you want to. You choose. You choose what you consume and therefore what you are.
Food, social media, people, ideas. Be thoughtful and considerate of what you let yourself consume, so are to guard against undesirable results.
The best way to do this is to fill up on the things that you want. Fill up your time doing the rewarding things, the positive things, the healthy people, food and ideas— leaving no room for the crap.
